Foss Waterway Seaport Wedding | Julia & Craig
I’m leaving Sunday for an extended labor day vacay but before I go, I had to get this Foss Waterway Seaport Wedding on the blog! I met Julia and Craig at an open house last October and we hit it off! I knew from their engagement session (which you can check out HERE) that their wedding was going to be awesome! Low key, romantic and dance party are the words that come to mind when I think of Julia and Craig’s Foss Waterway Seaport wedding in Tacoma.
Foss Waterway Seaport is a maritime museum by day, wedding venue by night. The entrance is built entirely out of glass windows which makes the wood and boat artifacts inside dance as the light shifts through out the day. Stringed cafe lights amongst the wood beams add a romantic yet rustic charm. From this Tacoma wedding venue, you have beautiful views of the Puget Sound and Mt. Rainier. It was a beautiful choice for Craig and Julia’s wedding day!
Julia was a vision in her lace dress, while Craig looked sharp and modern in a navy blue suit. We were greeted with clouds during the first look (which was incredibly touching when Julia shed a few tears of joy), but the sun was shining bright when it was time for formals – causing us to duck for shade! The bridal party met us at the venue for formal photos following which Craig and Julia had a short and sweet ceremony outside on the patio. We snuck out of the reception for sunset photos (which i highly recommend all couples do on their wedding day!). On the dock amongst the boats Craig and Julia laughed, danced, and enjoyed a few moments alone together as husband and wife. When we headed back to the venue, boy was everyone ready to PARTY! It was so fun watching all of Craig and Julia’s family and friend’s get down at this Foss Waterway Seaport wedding.
Ok just for a second I have to pause your viewing pleasure to talk about that top photo and a really raw moment that happened for me at Craig and Julia’s wedding. Julia told me earlier in the day that her grandparents are very special to her. Do you see that sweet lady in the pink dress cutting a rug in the top photo? That’s Julia’s grandma and I lost it seeing her out there on the dance floor. We’re talking insta-tears. Having recently lost both of my grandfathers and knowing my time with my grandmothers is limited – it was so special to me to see Julia’s Granny dancing the night away with her family. Enjoy your time with your loved ones. OH! and then see this photo below – a worm off! It was pretty much the best thing ever!
I have lucked out with some very special weddings this year, Craig and Julia’s obviously one of them. I’ll never forget this Foss Waterway Seaport wedding and am truly thankful for having The Dyess’s choose me as their wedding photographer! To many blessed year for this amazing couple!
