Adventure Engagement Session in Vantage
Being a Tacoma boudoir photographer might be the primary focus of my business, but that doesn’t mean I’m shutting down the wedding side…yet. When amazing friends ask you to shoot their wedding at the most GORGEOUS wedding venue, you say YES! Then when they say they want to road trip with you 3 hours for an adventure engagement session in Vantage – you start jumping up and down!
Puyallup was raining, cloudy, cold and miserable. Jumping in a truck and driving for 3 hours provided us with sunshine, and not quite warmth, but at least something close. Heather and Josh wanted something different for their photos. They’d seen the shoot I did last September in the Washington desert and they had to have their shoot there (Heck Yes!). They definitely put the “adventure” in this adventure engagement session! I feel the term “adventurers” is appropriate for Heather and Josh. They’ve been together 7 years and have literally traveled everywhere together. Thailand, Europe, all over the US, Mexico – adventure is what they do.
I gave Heather and Josh my pre-shoot run down as we shared in a quick glass of wine; asking them to trust my methods. My goal is to always capture emotive imagery. Images that make you feel something. I can’t do that without my clients being open and trusting me. Every couple goes through a little bit of a warm up, but by the time the sun was setting, Heather and Josh shared a lot of laughs and even a few (happy) tears. We took this session over the top with Josh’s favorite car, windswept hair, and a sunset for the record books.
This exploration of creating emotive imagery has pushed me in the best way. I loved capturing Heather and Josh’s adventure engagement session in Vantage. I can’t wait for their wedding later this year!
